Power curve and LTP completely wrong

hello. I’ve just opened a premium account and I’ve noticed my power curve is completely wrong and my 20 min power, TP and especially my LTP are all too high and when i enter correct numbers into power curve calculator nothing happens.
how do i change these numbers ?

How much historical power data have you imported?
Another way to alter your signature values is to view last activity details, make adjustments at bottom of chart, then Save (lock).
Future adjustments will use that as the starting sig.

I have lowered my FTP to what it should be but the LTP is still way to high.
Xert is asking me to do a Z2 ride at 255 watt for 90 mins .

I can’t do that .

Which workout are you referring to? Or do you mean outdoor free ride advice?

Currently I have reset my account and synced 12 months of data from Strava and now my TP looks good and LTP looks better but my PP is way to high.

The Power Duration Curve in Xert isn’t based entirely on actual watts you’ve ridden for X seconds/minutes.
A 5 sec burst is enough to validate Peak Power but there are circumstances where the algorithm is calculating your potential power curve points based upon performance under fatigue.

PP is supposed to be your (theoretical) 1 second max power if you were to start perfectly fresh and give all there is in 1 second. So I think that’s not supposed to be something that can be done in real life. All the values on you Xert power curve are perfect maximal values like that. Some are probably more achievable than others in real life, and which they are for each person might well depend on personal taste/psychology and physiology.

Luckily Xert doesn’t want or need you to ‘prove’ your PP by actually achieving it in real life. It gets calculated from short sprints of 5-10 seconds fresh or under fatigue. So you’ll never see the number on your power meter, it is supposed to be higher than the best you’ve done. Since what you do is usually longer than 1 sec and not under perfect conditions.
And to make it even worse, real world power meters can’t measure 1 sec spikes very accurately. Because of that very short spikes of just a few seconds get filtered by Xert before the calculation even starts since they are usually not accurate measurements.

So if you think the value is too high it might well not be. Usually it is too low for people who don’t do sprints and that can mess up the HIE and TP values and those are what matters most to get good workouts for your fitness level.

On the other hand your PP can be too high because of slightly longer spikes in one or more of your activities that are false data that were not filtered by Xert and should be flagged. To find those you can use the activities table view and add max power as a column and sort for it.

Excellent response. It is also true that most people can get a higher PP number outside. As I mostly ride indoors mine is always quite low. Although a max effort outdoors still wouldn’t produce a number to be proud of!!!

Thankyou for this . i have followed this advice and flagged a ride from last year that was skewing my data because of a ride with a faulty power meter. my fitness signature is looking spot on .
