Pausing a ride then restarting

Hi, if I stop for coffee on a ride, I normally stop the Garmin (Edge 1030) and then turn off the screen. On restarting, I turn on the screen and then hit start. This normall has no effect on on Strava but I have noticed that the activity duration in Xert is the actual time the activity started and was saved, so the period of inactivity is recorded. Does this have any effect on my fitness signature? I also notice that all the Xert data fields are reset using the stop and start button. Does this also affect Xert’s analysis of the ride overall?

No. Xert’s algorithms use the work you do together with MPA to calculate a strain value (XSS). Stopping can cause MPA to recover and Difficulty Score to decline and thus we include all stoppages.
